Wrongfully Yours
A place where I host conversations with people who have been impacted by wrongful convictions - sometimes this is an exoneree, a family member of an exoneree, a justice official, a filmmaker, a student...I'm really open to speaking with anyone because I think we all have such interesting and unique perspectives to bring around this issue in an effort to challenge assumptions, surface uncomfortable truths, and foster critical thinking about how justice is pursued and portrayed.
Wrongfully Yours
Episode 1 - Jamie Nelson
In this powerful debut episode of Wrongfully Yours, host Kelly Lauzon sits down with Jamie Nelson. A Canadian man who experienced wrongful conviction, exoneration, and yet remains an unwavering advocate for justice. Jamie shares the deeply personal story behind his wrongful conviction: a fabricated allegation rooted in a custody battle, a justice system primed to believe the worst, and the harrowing experience of being treated as guilty from the moment of arrest.
With raw honesty and strength, Jamie walks us through the events that led to his arrest, the trauma of pre-trial detention, and the courtroom dynamics that ultimately led to his conviction despite a strong alibi and a lack of physical evidence. This is a conversation not only about injustice, but about resilience, fatherhood, and the ripple effect of wrongful convictions.
