A place where I host conversations with people who have been impacted by wrongful convictions - sometimes this is an exoneree, a family member of an exoneree, a justice official, a filmmaker, a student...I'm really open to speaking with anyone because I think we all have such interesting and unique perspectives to bring around this issue in an effort to challenge assumptions, surface uncomfortable truths, and foster critical thinking about how justice is pursued and portrayed.

What happens when an innocent person refuses a plea deal no matter how tempting it sounds?
In this episode, criminal defence lawyer, Humza Hussain, shares the story of Elrico Fowler, who was offered 10 years to plead guilty to a murder he did not commit. He chose to maintain his innocence, went to trial, and has now spent 30 years in custody in North Carolina. After decades on death row, his sentence was recently commuted to life without parole. This was a profound change that brought his first contact visits with his children and grandchildren in 27 years.
